Peggy's Place seeks to provide a safe place that helps families who have experienced DFV and transitioned through the refuge system to rebuild their lives. It will work collaboratively with the current service system, providing much-needed support, further strengthening our community's many at-risk women and children.
Peggy's Place is a specialist Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) recovery centre that is passionate and committed to ending violence towards women and children. Peggy's Place focuses on providing support, information, case management, risk assessment, safety planning, community education, counselling, and referral pathways to empower women to have the confidence to integrate back into their community.
Peggy's Place is staffed by a team of experienced service practitioners who meet the regulatory framework, including the standards, principles, and best practice guidelines.
Residents of Peggy's Place are supported by a professional team of trauma-informed practitioners who hold National Police Clearances and a Blue Card.
Location:
Primarily based in Bardon may be required to work at other designated locations.
Working Hours:
Between the hours of 8am – 8pm – Monday to Friday (flexible)
Position Summary:
The Case Worker is to provide practical supports and demonstrate personal attentiveness and sensitivity in a non-judgemental way when engaging with residents, children, and staff at Peggy’s Place.
The Case Worker’s primary responsibility is to assist in the coordination and delivery of individualised support and action plans, by working collaboratively with residents to manage risk, plan goals and implement support services. The Case Worker works alongside residents to ensure a positive journey through client self-determination, education, and independence.
The Case Worker is to work closely with Residential Support Workers, Support Workers, Counsellor, Kid’s Club Program Manager, and the Service Manager of Peggy’s Place to provide effective case coordination. This enables a collaborative approach to assist residents to develop new skills, so they can live as independently as possible and create opportunities to enhance their wellbeing and growth.
Selection Criteria: (MUST BE ADDRESSED IN APPLICATION)
Key Selection Criteria (essential):
- Demonstrate a minimum of 2 years case management experience working with women and children in a feminist approach.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience supporting women, children, and youths, particularly those impacted by DFV & sexual abuse, working from a trauma, strengths-based approach.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience with an understanding of risk assessment and safety planning relating to women and children who have experienced trauma.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply current theory (strengths based and person centred) and practice relating to domestic and family violence.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working collaboratively within a team.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience navigating service systems, local community resources and government agencies.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations (The Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012, and an understanding of, the Family Law Act and Information Sharing Guidelines Act).

Additional Requirements:
- Degree qualified in human services: social work, psychology, criminology, counselling etc.

- Employees must utilise Peggy’s Place systems and software to ensure the quality of the organisation’s work and services are to a high standard.
- Employees must be subjected to a criminal history check.

- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with IT systems, in particular, case management systems, email, and Microsoft suite.
- Current drivers’ license.
- A current Positive Notice Blue Card for Child Related Employment.
- Is an Australian Citizen or permanent resident with the right to live and work in Australia.
