AddressWe currently we have a Short-term Casual position available to join our Hatchery team in Flying Fish Point near Innisfail. The role is 3-4 days per week at Flying Fish Point for approximately 4 weeks starting ASAP.
About Seafarms
Seafarms is Australia's largest prawn farming company with 160 hectares of ponds and two hatcheries over four locations across northern Australia. Our facilities are in Innisfail, Cardwell and Ingham in north Queensland and Exmouth in Western Australia. We are also the proponent of Project Sea Dragon, a global scale prawn aquaculture project to be developed across northern Australia culminating in the operation of 10,000 hectares of prawn production ponds.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Workplace Health & Safety
- Tank preparation
- Stocking
- Feeding
- Production
- Water quality management
- Implementation and enforcement of biosecurity, hygiene and sanitation protocols
- Data and sample collections and analysis
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and within a team environment
- Ability to undertake biological data entry and analysis
- Excellent time management skills with thorough attention to detail
- High level of written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Current and valid driver licence
A qualification in aquaculture such as Certificate III, Bachelor of Science or similar plus experience in aquaculture operations working in prawn culture or hatchery operations will be highly regarded but not essential.
Full training will be provided but the ideal candidates will have the following attributes:
- Positive attitude, good communication skills and enjoys working within a team.
- Strongly committed to Occupational Health and Safety and Biosecurity principles and practices.
