About the role
We provide day support to adults in crisis, homeless as well as people who are at risk of becoming homeless through the provision of a safe accepting and inclusive environment in which support, advocacy and referral can be provided.
Tranby is a safe, supportive environment where people are welcomed exactly as they are. We support people to develop the capacity and skills they need to move from crisis towards secure, long-term accommodation.
People do not require a referral to access Tranby’s services and can also see visiting services such the Community Centrelink Team, Mobile GP, Street Lawyer and Fines Enforcement Registry service from the Tranby day centre.
Our team provide essential services such as showers and food, and we also work 1:1 with people to understand their individual needs and support them to access the services that are right for them.
About you
The role is for you if you are able to demonstrate:
- Interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively work with people from a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds
- Ability to advocate on behalf of people that are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness
- Provide 1:1 support; and follow up and complete complex referrals to accommodation, housing, and specialist services
- Build and facilitate pathways and referrals to specific services, i.e., mental health, AOD services and Incorporated Aboriginal Organisations
- Team-orientated with a broad understanding of the drivers of homelessness
You must be able to obtain a current National Police Clearance and Provide a First Aid certificate.
