Randstad have partnered with a reputable Council within Melbourne's Western Suburbs for the role of Category Manager. This is a contract position until the end of June with a split hybrid working environment
Responsibilities of Category Manager:
The Category Manager is responsible for overseeing diverse spend categories, driving organisational goals, contributing to procurement activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and implement strategies to meet business objectives, including sourcing, pricing, and product assortment.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and monitor supplier performance to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct market research and analysis to understand trends, competition, and consumer preferences within the category.
- Gather, analyse and interpret data
- Work with stakeholders, with a view to improve value for money
- Work closely with cross-functional teams such as marketing, sales, operations, and finance to ensure alignment of category strategies with overall business objectives.
- Continuously evaluate and improve category management processes and practices to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability.
About you:
- Proven expertise in a similar category management role including procurement, tendering, and contract management
- Track record of achieving cost reductions
- Experience developing procurement policies and procedures
- Demonstrated success in delivering projects within tight deadlines
