Job Description
As the Category Manager you will work in the Technology Procurement team to support the Technology business. This role is responsible for working in partnership with external providers and the Head of Technology Procurement to deliver Technology commercial outcomes.
Define the category hierarchy mapping.
Lead the sourcing roadmap definition for the category to develop and prioritise category sourcing initiatives annually (and updated as needed).
Define category specific sourcing policies and procedures per initiative (e.g: single sourcing, supplier panels, etc.)
Create transformative category strategies, based on supply market expertise, current and future business strategy & needs, spend and innovation opportunities that identify impactful business value (with a focus on a pipeline of value delivery through effective category deployment).
Target 100% of addressable spend under category strategy.
Conducts effective change management with stakeholder's post-implementation to realise value from initiatives
Support the business to manage relationships with incumbent strategic suppliers including driving supplier innovation and developing joint improvement initiatives.
Provides regular timely updates for performance reporting & on all agreed value delivery drivers.
Support the development of measurable category objectives and align with Procurement excellence & the Performance Reporting Specialist.
Understand commercial drivers and business priorities.
Responsible for inter-BU coordination for e.g: stakeholder meetings, reporting & supplier review meetings etc
The Successful Applicant
Expert category knowledge
Demonstrated strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills.
Sophisticated understanding of supplier contracts, negotiating contracts and identifying and mitigating risks.
Working within the Procurement & Property team and Stakeholders to formalise "Ways of Working", supporting the mobilisation of the category and to build category management skills.
Expert sourcing and supplier management skills specifically for category, with a proven ability to constructively challenge on key decisions and lead supplier negotiations.
Advanced relevant computer skills, MS Office, PowerPoint, P2P systems, ERP systems including Oracle (ideal).
Able to create diagrams (e.g. Visio) to reduce complexity and ambiguity to show: decision trees; validate solution architecture concepts; confirm timelines; reduce esoteric processes to business process diagrams and record mind maps (ideal).
Strategic awareness
Proficiency in contract management with experience in developing relevant legal contractual terms and conditions.
Understanding how to work in a regulated environment (desired).
Tertiary qualification, preferably in IT, Supply Chain, Operations, Law, Engineering or Business Management.
2-5 years (min) relevant sourcing & category or commercial management experience
Proven expertise in managing and negotiating with suppliers & creating risk mitigation plans and strategies.
