The Category Manager will accept overall responsibility for identifying and executing savings and efficiency initiatives whilst improving the quality of services and reducing risk. Provide specialist professional advice and assistance for the provision of procurement and contract management services to the organisation.
Your new role
- Develop and execute Category / Procurement strategies to achieve cost-effective provision of services, whilst improving quality and reducing risk
- Negotiate, monitor, review and evaluate the applicable category, including the provision of strategic advice and recommendations to the delegate
- Run effective and ethical procurement activities to achieve the timely provision of services. Engage stakeholders throughout each procurement activity to manage change and buy-in to the process and outcomes.
- Liaise, collaborate and partner with internal stakeholders to ensure procurement and contract management decisions are consistent with the policies and processes, and provide expert advice and share knowledge about the category;
- Lead the development of a sound governance and risk management framework that fosters a culture of accountability in the management of contracts, including monitoring and reporting on the performance of suppliers.
- Develop and effectively manage relationships with top vendors that generate and drive vendor improvement.
- Proactively conduct market analysis including benchmarking to identify external trends and emerging developments for the Category, and consider relevance and benefits of their application.
What you'll need to succeed
You will need to have previous experience in developing metrics to manage vendor performance and manage vendor commercial relations, ensuring that an organisation achieves its goals, savings and targets.
You will ideally have a postgraduate qualification and relevant experience in procurement. Further to a proven ability to plan and prioritise workflow, whilst managing conflicting deadlines and demands to meet performance targets.
