As a Category SpecialistSecondary Systems, you will play a pivotal role in our procurement and supply chain operations, focusing on the procurement of materials within the Secondary Systems equipment category for electrical power transmission utilities. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure efficient category management through the application of best procurement practices, while prioritising value for money outcomes and mitigating supply chain risks.
You will;
- Participate in the development, implementation, and delivery of Category Plans for the Secondary Systems category
- Cultivate strong relationships with key suppliers to identify value-adding opportunities and enhance supplier performance
- Optimise contractual outcomes through active involvement in tendering, negotiations, and contract planning
- Monitor industry trends to identify new suppliers and support supply chain resilience
- Oversee supplier contract implementation and ongoing management, ensuring timely communication of supply chain risks
- Collaborate with key customers to understand their requirements and resolve issues within procurement constraints
- Coordinate the development and awarding of new commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with Powerlink's policy frameworks

Our Supply Chain Services provide pivotal support to our operations through the global sourcing and procurement of materials & services; positioning Powerlink as a world-class leader in the energy sector. From our Primary and Secondary Systems through to our Transformers and Reactive Plants, this team links Powerlink to the latest, most sustainable technology, equipment and services that enable our success.
Your expertise
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Significant knowledge of relevant systems and equipment relating to High Voltage Power Transmission Networks covering Secondary Systems technologies, such as :
- Protection Relays and Devices
- Metering Devices
- Ethernet Devices
- Power Quality Devices and Systems
- GPS Devices and Systems
- Other Ancillary Secondary Systems Devices, Software and Services
- Proficiency in SAP, particularly in Materials Management, Maintenance, and Logistics modules
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing abilities
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and documentation
