Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) is a community controlled Public Benevolent Institution delivering human services and social enterprise activities for the benefit of Aboriginal people from the Alice Springs Town Camps, urban Alice Springs, and Central Australia.
First incorporated in 1979, the organisation was a finalist in the 2016 Reconciliation Australia, Indigenous Governance Awards and is one of the 10 largest Aboriginal Corporations in Australia.

The Opportunity
This position will work with community stakeholders in remote communities in the CAYLUS service area supporting them in developing and implementing strategies to prevent and reduce the impact of substance misuse on young people and families.
The CAYLUS Operations Manager will work alongside the CAYLUS Business Manager, to lead the CAYLUS Team, and contribute to the development of CAYLUS strategies.
Responsibilities
- Along with the CAYLUS Business Manager, lead the development of CAYLUS strategies, including working with remote communities to develop community specific initiatives to address substance misuse.
- Advocate to government bodies on behalf of member services and clients.
- Represent CAYLUS in negotiations with the Commonwealth, the NT Government, local government, and other non-government bodies.
- Supervise and support both CAYLUS office-based and remote staff, along with the Business Manager
- Facilitate routine staff supervision, workplans and reviews, together with the CAYLUS Business Manager.
- Along with the CAYLUS Business Manager, support the tracking of funding agreements, milestones, and reporting - working with other staff to ensure KPI’s and other targets are met.
- Oversight of CAYLUS office systems, including assets management, fleet control and bookings, quality management (LOGIQC).
- Support the development of CAYLUS funding submissions and grant applications.
- Work in compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Provide written and verbal reports at a high standard.
- Assist with achieving quality management objectives across the organisation.
- Assist with achieving safeguarding objectives across the organisation.
- Assist with achieving compliance objectives across the organisation.
- Other reasonable duties as required.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
Required
- Qualifications in Community Development, Social Science, Management, or a related field
- At least 5 years’ experience in a senior management role
- Extensive experience in the design and implementation of community development initiatives
- Experience in the delivery of services in remote communities in the NT or a similar setting.
- Ability to work in an informed, appropriate, and sensitive manner with Aboriginal people.
- Ability to travel to remote locations and stay for up to 4 days at a time.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively, seeking input from the CAYLUS Business Manager at appropriate junctures
- Strong skills in collecting and analysing data and preparing reports.
- Experience in the facilitation of group training
- Knowledge of youth issues, communities, geography, and resources in the region.
- Current NT Drivers Licence, NT Working with Children (Ochre) Card, satisfactory Police Check, and proof of full (3) vaccination against COVID-19.
Desired
- Current First Aid Certificate, or ability and willingness to attain.
- An understanding of Aboriginal culture as well as a broad range of contemporary issues affecting Central Australian Aboriginal people.
