ABOUT THE ROLE

The Victorian Operations Manager at Qube Energy plays a pivotal role in overseeing and directing operational activities within the region. The primary objective of this position is to effectively manage and lead personnel while ensuring the seamless delivery of exceptional service quality to our clients in the Oil and Gas sector and Supply Chain stakeholders. The role will serve as a primary point of contact for customers, fostering strong relationships and upholding the highest standards of service. The Victorian Operations Manager will be responsible for the efficient management of Shorebase assets situated across Melbourne, Geelong, and the Barry Beach Marine Terminal. This includes adherence to legislative and regulatory safety standards outlined in Qube Energy's safety framework, alongside a commitment to nurturing our workforce to achieve excellence in their respective roles.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Analyse State and site results and develop and implement business plans to ensure profitable growth and development opportunities.
  • Manage the compliance of all customer, quality assurance and documentation and procedural
    requirements
  • Ensure growth by retention and extension of existing client business and establishment of new business partners.
  • Identify all business risks and develop appropriate management strategies to minimize
    exposure.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Industrial Relations Agreements, WHS and
    Environmental legislation, and company policies.
  • Coordinate use and management of assets and staff to ensure profit objectives, site needs
    and upcoming projects are met.
  • Promote other Qube business divisions (Qube Logistics, Qube Bulk) when commercially
    sound opportunities present.
  • Manage the Performance Management process for operational staff, specifically mentoring site managers on best practice performance management techniques.
  • Participate in the negotiation of site-specific Enterprise Agreement.
  • Proactively attend meetings and provide positive support for initiatives consistent with contractual guidelines
  • Respond to any issues raised in an efficient and positive manner

Quality

  • Set high work standard through leadership by example
  • Oversee Efficient operation of the branch’s vehicles and plant
  • Complete all necessary associated documentation
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of deficiencies in the delivery of product
  • Undertake supervision of work
  • Ensure good care is taken of vehicles/plant under your care

Finance

  • Assist in allocation of resources to improve operational and financial performance and monitor regularly
  • Monitor and report monthly performance, including, but not limited to, KPI’s, downtime, bottle necks, breakdowns, customer and personnel related issues that may have a financial impact on the business
  • Control business costs and keep these as low as possible.
  • Own and manage a budget including monthly P&L reporting, maintaining or exceeding budget expectations through producing positive financial results.

  • Follow the requirements of the SHEMS documentation including Rules, Procedures and Instructions

Be Prepared to Work Safely

  • Report to duty in a fit state, free from fatigue the influence of alcohol or other drugs
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment and operate plant equipment safely
  • Participate in consultation activities regarding matters affecting your health, safety and welfare
  • Participate in relevant safety training and maintaining your safety related competencies
  • Engage in Work only when in possession of required and current Certificates of Competence

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas would be advantageous.

Experience

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in operations management, preferably within the Oil and Gas industry or a related sector
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve organizational goals
  • Sound knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements related to safety, environmental compliance, and operational standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking capability.
  • Flexibility to travel as required within the Victorian region and occasionally nationally.
  • Profit and loss (P+L) management experience

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, vendors and employees
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address operational issues

  • Good knowledge of competency-based training and assessment
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Experience in managing safety in the workplace, including the operations of Quality Safety and Environmental Management Systems
  • Ability to work under pressure
