Thorn-Clarke Wines is an award-winning, family-owned, estate grown producer; based at Angaston in the Barossa Valley. The family are proud custodians of approximately 110 hectares of vineyard (including holdings in some of the most Southerly and Northerly sites in the region) and our small but passionate team has achieved over 20 trophies at the International and Domestic level, a 5 Red Star rating from the Halliday Wine Companion, and certification from Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.
With 6 generations of grape growing heritage, our philosophy is strongly rooted in sustainable viticulture. We pride ourselves on creating authentic, expressive wines that truly showcase what the Barossa has to offer.
Our winery has a 2000T capacity, and we process our red and white grapes on site, using a mixture of hands-on techniques along with the use of our modern equipment.
We are seeking an experiencedCellar Hand, who is highly motivated, quality focused, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic to join our small close-knit team.
Key responsibilities include:
- General cellar duties – tank cleaning, additions, transfers, rackings, tanker loading/unloading, cleaning and maintaining cellar hygiene
- Crossflow filtrations – finished wine and high solids
- Oak operations including stacking and unstacking barrels
- Vintage operations – grape bin unloading/loading, Pellenc de-stemmer operation, bag press operation, fermentation management, pump overs
- Provide leadership and training to vintage staff
- General cellar maintenance and housekeeping
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, reliable, detail orientated, able to work well under pressure, possess problem-solving skills and a commitment to uphold quality and safe work practices.
To be successful you will have the following:
- Cellar/Vintage experience (Grade 3 or above is essential)
- Current Drivers Licence (ability to drive a manual vehicle is highly regarded)
- Current High-Risk Forklift Licence
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency
- Ability to work autonomously and in a small team
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Successful applicants will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, which includes drug and alcohol testing.
