The restaurant seeks an experienced Chef de Partie / Chef to work in a fast-paced environment. Our team is an established one; we value our staff just as much as our loyal customers.
Summary of Position:
- Help plan menus, ordering of food
- Making sure meals are presented correctly before they go out to the customer
- Discussing food preparation issues with Management, kitchen and waiting staff
- Preparing and cooking food
- Enforcing hygiene regulation
- Oversee hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen
- Prepare and plate dishes
- Have an input into menu design
To be successful in the role, you will need to have the following qualifications:
- AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)
- At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
Duties:
- Planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
- Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff
- Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
- Preparing and cooking food
- Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
- May select and train staff
- May freeze and preserve food
Requirements:
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of Food Hygiene and OH&S Standards
- A professional presentation and approach
- A passion for food
- Ability to work closely with management to ensure the consistent high quality service is provided
- A positive attitude with a strong work ethic and good communication skills
- Ability to work well within a team environment and under pressure
- Be available to work days, nights and weekends and have your own reliable transport
- Innovative and organised
