You have a passion for cooking and take pride in the meals that you produce. Thrive under pressure. Are enthusiastic, a team player, excited to express your ideas and keen to learn from the team.
You have a minimum 3 years proven experience in a working kitchen. You are punctual and reliable.
Role Responsibilities:
To ensure the efficient management of all responsibilities
• To ensure that checklists are actively exercised and maintained
- Prepare food items using various cooking methods. Observe and test food being cooked.
- Ensure proper care, maintenance, and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and supplies
• To provide effective leadership through professional supervision and encouragement of all staff members
• To analyse current procedures and work with direct report to implement new ideas to further improve operations
• To be aware of current trends in the industry and with your direct report implement them for the benefit of the Hotel
• To attend meetings and training courses as required and continually strive for the improvement of your own professional skills
• To ensure that sufficient stocks of all materials are being kept and stored under the correct conditions
• To control stock levels and minimise wastage
• To liaise daily with manager on duty regarding specials, additional requirements, VIP’s, functions, etc.
• To ensure that all statutory hygiene requirements are diligently followed
• To work with a controlled sense of urgency, prioritise tasks with thought and continually strive to add value to the business
• To maintain effective and open working relationships with all members of staff.
Skills / Experience:
The successful candidate will have the following:
Strong proficiency in food preparation and handling with minimum three (3) years' experience, is essential.
Solid understanding of food and hygiene practices in the kitchen.
- Professionally presented, committed, trustworthy and responsible.
Ability to follow direction and work in a team environment.
- Stock Control.
- Risk Management.
