The Byford & Districts Country Club is a family friendly, community-minded social destination in the Peel region.
We are currently seeking an experienced Chef to join our team. This position suits applicants wishing to work in a fast-paced, positive and energetic environment. The BDCC was recently awarded the prestigious title of Western Australia's Club of the Year for 2023, boasting over 11,000 active members and serving over 3,500 meals weekly.
We are proud to be the largest community club in WA, striving to provide excellent value-for-money and high-quality dining experiences to our members. The suitable candidate must be proactive in these objectives too.
The ordinary hours of work will be 38 hours per week. No overtime required.
The successful candidate will be reporting directly to the Head Chef. You will be responsible for running your own section, including preparation, service and cleaning.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Maintain high and consistent food standards throughout.
Efficiently handle stock control and rotation while managing food costs by controlling portions, minimising waste, and overseeing stock levels.
Possess and apply strong communication skills suitable for a busy kitchen environment.
Emphasise a team-oriented approach, contributing to staff selection and training for smooth kitchen operations.
Introduce creative techniques and provide guidance on cooking methods.
Ensure compliance with special dietary requirements, including allergies.
Focus on nutrition, promoting healthy eating practices.
Enforce food safety guidelines, communicating them effectively to the kitchen staff.
Collaborate with managers and kitchen/waiting staff to address concerns.
Oversee freezing and food preservation as needed.
Requirements:
Culinary/cookery qualifications or certificates (or equivalent).
Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Chef de Partie in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant or a similar environment (preferred).
Can-do attitude with excellent communication, time management, and teamwork skills.
Trustworthy and reliable.
Strong cost control ability, with expertise in overseeing expenditures related to food, equipment, labour, and waste management.
Ability to train and assist junior team members in the kitchen.
Required certificates: Police clearance, COVID-19 certificate, and first aid certificate.
Fluent in English.
Have rights to work in Australia (preferred).
Offering a competitive annual salary: $70,000 - $75,000, plus superannuation.
