About the restaurant
Kogan People Solutions are retained by a successful authentic Indian restaurant in Melbourne’s tourist belt, proudly offering the best, most flavoursome and most real Indian food in Melbourne. The menu centres around dishes cooked on the open barbecue, and sensational curries. Open throughout the week, they use the finest and most aromatic flavoured & traditional spices in preparing vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. As they grow, they seek an additional chef to ensure their success continues.
About the Role
This is a busy position in a substantial venue with an enviable reputation for quality meals every day. It’s a full-time position and you may be required across the week.

Responsibilities
· Lead, train guide and inspire the kitchen team to deliver the best results.
· Prepare and cook meals and supervise the preparation of meals by kitchen staff.
· Manage kitchen consumables, stock takes, ordering, cost control and budgeting.
· Develop, test, and introduce new menu items.
· Compliance with OH&S and Food Safety standards
· Work alongside the management team
· Are well experienced in this or similar cuisines
About you
· You have a passion for the hospitality industry and are up to date on techniques and food trends.
· You can demonstrate an uncompromising attitude towards flavour and presentation of the highest quality, whilst aligning and motivating a cohesive and hardworking team environment.
· Are empathetic to those around you and work well under pressure
To be successfully considered you –
- Possess excellent relevant post-secondary qualifications, to at least Diploma level
- Have verifiable experience and interest in Indian or similar cuisines.
- Have at least 2 to 3 years relevant professional experience since earning your qualifications.
- Are available across the working week including weekends and nights.
- Offer proven ability to prioritise, set goals and have the determination to achieve them
- Possess a thorough understanding of food safety and HACCP.
- Understand cost control, time management, prioritization, and cost-efficient procurement practices.
- You are an excellent people manager able to get the most out of your team
