Full time: 38 hour week
SALARY RANGE: $75,000 TO $85,000 per annum plus Superannuation
Rusty Gate Retail is a premium, fresh food preparation and packaging business operating out of Osborne Park.
We provide varied, home cooked, pre-packaged fresh meals, salads, desserts, baked goods and salsa to a number of IGA's and fresh food outlets across Western Australia.
We pride ourselves on quality products, nutritional, restaurant-style meals, and so the applicant must have an eye for detail and innovation.
We are currently looking for a Commercial Chef to work with our Operations Manager to assist in the running of and working with our production team, including 5 talented chefs. The Rusty Gate production team cooks up great recipes under the guidance of our Chef, working in sync with the distribution team who deliver our products to our customers.
We are a small, close knit team with a number of chefs and kitchen hands. Being part of a small team means our Chef will need the skills to run the kitchen, develop new menus, supervise and train our cooks and be on top of all the relevant Health and Safety regulations. He/she will possess a good work ethic, and, above all, will not be afraid of hard work.
Your duties will include:
· Lead and motivate the team and be part of recruitment and development of team members
· Provide management and guidance to the kitchen staff
· Take accountability for the production schedule
· Produce and deliver high-quality meals
· Work with the operations manager to ensure correct procedures and processes are implemented and followed
· Stock control and ordering
· Comply with food and safety standards
· Have effective communication skills and the ability to think clearly under pressure
· Being proactive with strong, problem-solving skills
· Develop new dishes so as to introduce new products to keep the business fresh and interesting for our customers.

The ideal candidate will have:
· Formal qualifications plus a minimum of 2 years’ experience or, if no formal qualifications, a minimum of 5 years + experience in kitchen and food preparation
· Food Safety Supervisor Qualification (or willing to obtain)
· Good communication skills. We have a multi-cultural team and that’s the way we like it!
· Passion for cooking and taking pride in the product produced
