Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
- Plan and carry out preventative maintenance throughout the Hotel to ensure standards are maintained for a positive guest experience.
- Delegate the completion of general repairs and maintenance to the property within Engineering team or contractors as required.
- Champion resource management improvements and conservation.
- Be responsible for the testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting etc. on a routine basis as required by local Council and Fire Service.
- Maintain records of repair work and daily checks as required by local Council, Government and manufacturer specifications.
- Liaise with the General Manager and Financial Controller regarding use of contractors within the Hotel, controlling expenditure and ensuring work is to the standard required by the company and manufacturer specifications.
- Ensure the cost effective and hygienic removal of rubbish from the Hotel areas and monitor to ensure areas are clear and free of offensive odour.
- Liaise closely with front desk and housekeeping regarding ‘down’ rooms to expedite a quick turn around and return to inventory.
- Ensure the external areas of the hotel are neat and tidy and maintained in line with company brand standards.
- Maintain a;; equipment in safe working order according to manufacturer specifications.
- Complete project work and prepare reports as requested by the Executive Committee.
- Ensure all team members are competent in the safe and effective use of equipment and chemicals in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Attend and actively participate in daily meetings respecting the confidentiality of issues which may be discussed formally or informally.
- Prepare monthly maintenance reports, commenting on key performance indicators and action taken to keep on target.
- Be actively involved in the Hotels’ WHS and Emergency Response team.
- Maintain contractor records including SWMS and Public Liability insurance, ensure work permits are obtained before commencement, especially when working at heights or within confined spaces.
- Induct contractors to ensure adherence to Accor’s policy’s and on site safety measures.
- Complete InterREACT Audits quarterly and Environmental Essentials Audits every 2 years.
- Attend the Workplace Health & Safety meetings as a management representative.
- Coordinate and chair the Emergency Planning Committee meetings,
- Maintain a plant and asset register with the Financial Controller.
- Ensure the proactive maintenance program is aligned with the Hotel’s legal compliance plan.
- Be available to carry out emergency maintenance work outside of normal working hours, as required for: full power failure, evacuation fire system re-set and/or failure of mechanical systems.
- Adherence to emergency communication procedures ensuring that enquiries from the media are only responded to by the nominated spokesperson.
- Qualification in a relevant engineering field.
- Relevant experience in hotels in a leadership capacity;
- Permanent working rights in Australia;
- Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to make decision and understand commercial implications;
- Entrepreneurial spirit with drive, ambition and high level of energy;
