The Company
Formerly called the Skin & Cancer Foundation Australia, The Skin Hospital (TSH) was established in 1976 to provide a training and research facility for the development of academic dermatology in Australia. Forty years on, the hospital is now a leading facility in Australia for Dermatological Clinical Services, Education and Research & Clinical Trials.
Since opening in 1976, the hospital has gained a reputation as a centre of excellence in the clinical management of skin diseases, skin cancer and skin surgery. The hospital operates Day Surgery Units at both Darlinghurst and Westmead and offers over 20 speciality skin clinics and access to over 50 dermatologists. The Skin Hospital also has a dedicated research unit.
TSH is a registered educational institution, and with its association with the Australasian College of Dermatologists is committed to the training of dermatology registrars and over the past 15 years, approximately 95% of dermatologists admitted to Fellowship in NSW have spent at least one year of their training at TSH.
The RoleThe role reports to the Board through the Chair and leads a team of 110 and a turnover of $25M. The purpose of the role is to:
- Work to advance the mission and vision of TSH and promotes its activities by providing visible and inspired leadership throughout the organisation.
- Influence and build trusted relationships with all medical staff.
- Lead and implement an established executive strategic plan with a focus on embedding change and opportunities for growth.
- Ensure financial sustainability by achieving a balance between efficient service delivery and high-quality health outcomes.
- Steward the business in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team, accountable to the Board for all governance activities, including corporate governance, risk management, WHS, clinical governance etc.
- Act as the primary spokesperson for the organisation, including building alliances and strategic partnerships with other organisations.
To be successful in the role you will have significant experience and be able to demonstrate:
- Values led executive leadership of a multi-disciplinary team ideally with knowledge of the Australian healthcare system, especially private sector experience, and experience with corporate and clinical governance.
- Strong financial acumen formulating strategic, business, and operational plans in a healthcare and/ or not-for-profit (for purpose) and/or private sector environment.
- Ability to inspire confidence and build trust with a high level of competence in interpersonal skills, consultation and effective communication with staff of TSH, including medical practitioners, professional organisations, medical associates, medical colleges and University medical schools.
- Experience with corporate and clinical governance and ideally, knowledge of accreditation standards and processes.
- Tertiary qualifications in business or health management.
