The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) employs approximately 7,000 staff across 87 geographically dispersed locations within Victoria. DEECA brings together Victoria's energy, environment, water, agriculture, forestry, resources, climate action, and emergency management functions into a single department to maximize connections between the environment, community, industry and economy. DEECA's challenge is to improve Victoria's liveability with a population that is expected to almost double by 2050, while responsibly tackling climate change and protecting our natural environment, infrastructure, and heritage for the future.
Agriculture Victoria delivers services, information and resources to farmers, agribusinesses, and rural communities to enhance productivity, sustainability and profitability in the agriculture industry across the State. The industry plays a significant role in supporting Victoria's economic development now and into the future. Through partnerships with other agencies and industry, Agriculture Victoria promotes the sustainable development of Victoria's agriculture resources including coordination of the overall mentoring and regulation across Victoria.
Reporting to the Secretary, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Agriculture Victoria is one of nine members of DEECA's Executive Board, and will be responsible for leading, inspiring and developing an experienced and capable workforce to deliver on the Victorian Government's priorities across the agriculture, food and fibre sectors. The CEO will lead strategies, frameworks, policies and structures to guide work across the department to support this key industry. Through a values based leadership approach you will forge key partnerships across the department, portfolio entities and other key stakeholders.
To be considered for this role, you will be an executive leader with demonstrated experience leading diverse teams from within a large complex organisation at a senior level from within a government environment or from the agriculture sector. As a contemporary leader in your field, you are well respected for your experience in setting strategic direction, delivery of reform, legislative change or service delivery outcomes. You are regarded as a strong leader with proven experience building a responsive workforce culture within a complex changing operating environment. Additionally, you will have a proven track record of developing constructive stakeholder relationships and managing competing demands from sponsors, across government and the community.
This is a fixed term position available for a period of up to 5 years. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
