How you'll make a difference:

The Chief Executive Officer is tasked with leading Safer Care Victoria in improving healthcare in Victoria, so it is safer, more effective and person-centred, whilst working alongside our clinicians, consumer networks and key partners to make a difference in the quality and safety of Victoria.

Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Successful and effective demonstrated track record in influencing and driving change in a complex clinical environment, with the respect and support of clinicians and medical staff involved in the implementation of the improved quality of patient care and safety initiatives and processes.
  • Demonstrated extensive, senior executive management experience and extensive knowledge of clinical systems and health services, including the understanding of human and other factors impacting on clinical quality and safety in healthcare delivery systems within a complex environment.
  • Extensive skills at a senior executive level in a large and complex organisation within the health industry, as well as proven management experience in strategy and policy development, implementation, evaluation and review, with particular focus on strategic planning, risk management and resource management processes, along with the demonstrated capacity to manage high level negotiations and at all levels of government.
  • Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of clinical practice and healthcare delivery systems, the workings of government and government organisations, the management challenges of a large and diverse public health care system, health policy trends and evaluation processes, and the Australian and Victorian health systems.
