About the organisation
The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) is the independent statutory authority responsible for ensuring that schools, employers of apprentices and trainees and providers of education and training meet quality standards, and that information is readily available to support informed choice in education and training. Governed by an independent board that reports to the Minister for Education, the Minister for Skills and Tafe, and the Minister for Economic Growth, the VRQA helps support the education and training goals of the Victorian Government.
About the role
Appointed by the Secretary of the Department of Education and working closely with the Board, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is a trusted adviser providing strategic leadership and vision and the ethical, effective, and efficient management of VRQA's large and complex operations.
Duties include leadership of the authority responsible for the regulation of in excess of 2,250 schools, 135 RTO's and all apprenticeships and traineeships; driving efficient and effective business processes; delivering timely regulatory assessments; and being a recognised authoritative voice on quality assurance and regulation. Thereby ensuring the delivery of quality education standards, programs and outcomes in accordance with VRQA's objectives and statutory functions, and in line with government and organisation objectives.
The CEO engages with stakeholders to identify opportunities for reform, delivering high-quality advice and analysis to inform better regulatory approaches with an emphasis on fostering an inclusive and active culture.
About you
Diplomatic, collaborative and a seasoned leader, you are widely respected for your success in building high performing teams and delivering in complex public sector contexts. You have a deep knowledge of modern regulation and legislative frameworks and are adept in navigating complexity, with experience of working with Boards or similar. Known for your critical thinking, clear communications and recognised as a problem solver, you present with acumen and gravitas. Well credentialed, your career demonstrates sound judgement, and a clear values alignment to delivering results in finely balanced, highly visible, people orientated regulatory contexts. You see this role and regulation as contributing to positive outcomes being achieved for the Victorian community in education, skills and training.
