We are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity to join our team as the Chief Financial Officer to be based at our head office in Bathurst or our Orange NSW office.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the CEO, this position is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, management and strategic direction of both Skillset Limited and Skillset Senior College Financial Services. This includes payroll, accounting and financial systems development functions.
The CFO will have a day-to-day, ongoing impact on company operations, helping to analyse, strategize and strengthen Skillset’s financial position. The position has responsibility for financial and company compliance, financial reporting and meeting our customers’ mission-critical financial process needs.
This position is also a member of the Leadership Team and contributes significantly to the strategy, management, culture and development of the organisation.
You will be responsible for:
- Strategy and leadership - assisting the Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation in line with its vision, purpose and values, so that it achieves the objectives of the strategic plan.
- Finance, Accounting and Payroll – Lead a team of staff responsible for delivering all finance functions including accounts payable/receivable, payroll and internal controls of Financial Services, ensuring compliance with all relevant contractual, governance, industry and legal obligations. Budget preparation and support, analysis and reporting.
- Financial Services Systems – Identify, develop and implement Financial systems, processes, policies and reports to support the strategic objectives of both Skillset Limited and Skillset Senior College and improve the quality and consistency of Financial Services.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or related, and recognition by CPA or CA with proven experience in financial management, meeting accounting standards and internal controls
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in preparation of budgets, forecasts, financial reports and funding acquittals
- Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing a team to achieve outcomes and grow in their roles
- Strategic thinking and planning skills developed through education and/or experience to support contributing to the strategy, management, culture and development of an organisation
- Strong relationship management skills to enable friendly and professional interaction with a range of stakeholders
- A strong work ethic with excellent time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Demonstrated eye for detail, agility, and resilience in responding to changes in income/revenue streams
- Current Class C drivers’ licence
