Company Background
Our client is one of Australia’s home-grown successes, having expanded from a small regional office, to now one of Australia’s largest consumer B2B distributors in their sector. With offices now in all the major cities across the country, and sales revenue touching $120m, the next stage of their growth has led to the search for an accomplished CFO to join the executive team.
The Role
Reporting to the CEO and Board, this role will be responsible for the Financial, HR and Risk stewardship of the business including management and upskilling of a well-established finance team.
As the business has gone through a recent merger, there will be natural efficiencies to be had, both structurally and from a reporting point of view. In more detail, the role will:
- Lead and develop an established Finance and HR team of eight
- Review and streamline the business’s financial reporting and budgeting processes
- Assist in formulating the company’s future financial direction and supporting tactical initiatives
- Monitor and contribute to the preparation and implementation of strategic business plans
- Develop financial and tax strategies in consultation with the executive and key advisors
- Manage the capital requirements and budgeting processes for the company and departments
- Proactively engage with business units to support completion of monthly finance requirements
- Responsible for the overall profitability of the business
- Monitor cash flow: balances and cash forecasts
- Preparation of Payroll including related processes for superannuation and payroll-related taxes
- Manage HR functions including recruitment, on-boarding, maintenance of policies and procedures, performance management and training programs
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
- Monitor all legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
Your Background
To be considered for this Chief Financial Officer role, there are requirements our client is particularly interested in:
- Previous experience as a Head of Finance, CFO, Finance Director or equivalent
- Experience working within a rapidly expanding business including building out processes, and structure is a pre-requisite
- Exposure to inventory, distribution or logistics-based businesses
- Experience around formulating strategy for a possible exit plan / buy-out (preferred however not a pre-requisite)
- Professionally qualified (e.g. CA / CPA or equivalent)
- This role does not have work from home flexibility so we are looking for those who enjoy being in the office
