About the role
Reporting to the Director Corporate, the Chief Financial Officer is the Responsible Accounting Officer for Inner West Council and liaises closely with the Council’s Executive team. The position provides strong leadership of the Finance teams, including the development and management of Council’s Budget, the Long-Term Financial Plan and investment strategy. In addition, the position is responsible for ensuring that financial operations and systems support all other budgeting, financial planning and monitoring and decision making across the different areas of the organisation. The role is responsible for ensuring that all staff within Finance work collaboratively towards meeting all of Council’s commitments in the Council’s Strategic Plans.
The Chief Financial Officer manages, motivates and provides direction to the Finance teams, including all management levels and staff. The Chief Financial Officer is expected to provide a consistent high-quality approach to service and project delivery and will coordinate service unit planning and implementation of service unit directions and systems.

Remuneration
A total remuneration package (TRP) circa $240K pa, which includes access to a leaseback vehicle, is on offer and may be negotiable with the successful candidate.
Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and membership of a professional association such as ICAA or CPA and demonstrated relevant experience at a senior management level with demonstrated record of achievement in financial, people and project management.
- Extensive experience in undertaking innovative service delivery in budgeting and financial planning, including demonstrated ability to identify and monitor the true cost of services and to provide the services and support necessary to ensure that the information is available in a form that can be easily understood and applied to fees and charges.
- Experience in working with managers, staff and stakeholders across organisations to resolve high priority, and often sensitive and complex matters.
- Proven track record in managing and ensuring probity is achieved in all aspects of employment and service delivery.
- Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to role model core Values and desired behaviours, and create a highly engaged workforce.
