Energy Queensland has 7800 employees who delivered a program of works last financial year worth $1.2billion. They helped us maintain a network of 1.7million power poles almost 190-thousand span kilometres of overhead powerlines and 29-thousand kilometres of underground power cable.

An opportunity exists for an outstanding leader to join the organisation lead the organisation’s digital, cyber and technology strategy, business enablement and responsiveness to current and future opportunities and risk. 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Information Officer will lead Energy Queensland’s Digital Division, accountable for delivering enabling, safe and prudent digital and cyber solutions that enable the business to operate safely and effectively while optimising the digital experience for customers, communities and employees. 

Key focus will be on:

• As a member of the Executive Leadership Team contribute to strategic planning and execution to ensure business objectives are met
• Working across the organisation to collaborate and devise responses and solutions to meet business needs
• Developing and lead a high performing, fit for purpose team operating in an agile and innovative culture
• Bringing knowledge of new and cutting edge technologies and approaches 
• Leading continuous deployment of latest cyber security methods, technologies and process to protect the organisations and comply to SOCI and NEM obligations

Essential to success in this role will be leadership and strategic capability that has been demonstrated in organisations of a similar scale (budget, staffing, business operations breadth, geography). This experience will have encompassed wide scale transformational change involving a large, diverse and geographically dispersed workforce and in an industrial landscape.   Degree and post graduate qualifications in an applicable discipline are required and exposure to the requirements of government owned or public infrastructure environments will be well regarded.

Energy Queensland is offering a remuneration package commensurate with the scale and complexity of the role and an opportunity to contribute to and execute on strategy whilst delivering essential, enabling services to an organisation that in turn delivers essential services to Queensland. 

Relocation is available as is an ability to be located in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, or Toowoomba.  The role will require regular travel.
