Job description

The Chief Information Officer role at Bayside City Council is an exciting opportunity to join a sector leading organisation.
Our opportunity
Reporting to the Director Corporate Services, you will lead a committed and passionate team in the strategic development and delivery of information technology and solutions to support the delivery of Council’s services, while ensuring the security of Council’s systems and data.
Leading Council’s Enterprise Architecture and Technology Roadmap, you will ensure that Council continues to focus on providing great customer experiences to our community and organisation.
We consider ourselves sector-leading in many of the services we deliver, and as a key member of the senior leadership team, you will build partnerships and work collaboratively across the organisation to meet Bayside’s shared goal of being sector leading in all that we do.
Is this role for you?
The successful candidate will have a reputation for being an exceptional senior leader and strategic thinker, with extensive experience using technology to drive and enable innovation, efficiency and the advancement of Council’s organisational outcomes.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will be accountable for setting the strategy and leading the delivery of services while fostering a customer-focused, values-based culture where staff are engaged and empowered to be high performing.
To thrive in this position, you will have:
Specialist knowledge and extensive experience in developing and delivering ICT strategies and technologies in a complex environment to support business objectives.
Proven experience in senior leadership roles that have delivered change and improvement to organisational performance.
Proven experience leading teams that aligns to workplace culture, organisational purpose, vision, and strategy.
Experience leading and inspiring a multi-disciplinary team where people perform at their best.
A customer focused mindset with the ability to deliver outcome-based partnerships and an understanding of the relationships and structures in a government setting.
Tertiary qualifications in a discipline related to the service areas. Leadership qualifications will be highly regarded.
Demonstrated ability as a trusted advisor to the Executive Team, ICT Steering Committee & Audit and Risk Committee.

We have a hybrid model of working. When you work from the office, our beautiful Bayside location is glorious. Head office has parkland surrounds and the beach within a 500m walk. We even boast beautiful a coastal Indigenous Trail that provides insight into the relationship between our First Nation’s culture and the coastal environment. Whether you are working from home, from the office or out in the field we continue to focus on ensuring our systems and processes enable collaboration and connection.
