Fire Rescue Victoria

Established on 1 July 2020 as part of Victoria’s Fire Services Reforms, Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) serves and protects communities from 85 FRV fire and rescue stations across the state. FRV employs circa 5,000 staff  geographically dispersed across Melbourne and major Regional Centres across Victoria. 

Chief Medical Officer 

Reporting to the Director Health & Wellbeing, you will lead a team of 2 technical specialists to provide the Senior Leadership Team with occupational and environmental health advice to ensure compliance with all relevant legal, ethical, and medical standards. Medical governance and advice will be applied to; 3rd party medical assessments,  health promotion, and external allied health services. You will also support the broader Health, Safety and Wellbeing division (80 staff) to deliver key initiatives that align with FRV's Strategic Plan and the Medical Service workplan.

You will have extensive senior leadership experience as an Occupational and Environmental Physician within a complex environment of equivalent scale. Demonstrated experience and an intimate understanding of relevant occupational health, privacy, and medical legislation to ensure FRV programs meet all legal, ethical, and medical standards. 

A current Fellowship with the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine or other relevant Fellowship is essential. Additional postgraduate qualifications in other fields such as public health, and/or population health, critical care (emergency department and/or pre-admission hospital care) is highly desirable.
