Overview

The role of Chief Operating Officer is responsible for managing the daily operation of the Corporate Markets ANZ division, including Link Market Services and Fund Services. Reporting to the Managing Director, Corporate Markets ANZ, this role is responsible for leading a high performing team of professionals to effectively execute the organisations strategic plan. This involves transforming and simplifying business processes through the smart use of technology while delivering bottom line measurable benefit.
 

Key Accountabilities and Main Responsibilities:

Strategic Focus:

  • Collaborate with the Managing Director to set the organizational vision and execute operational strategies.
  • Translate strategies into actionable steps for growth, overseeing goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning.
  • Work closely with the Director of Client Relationships and Director of Business Development to develop acquisition strategies and expand service offerings.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives across all departments.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee Corporate Markets operations, ensuring employee productivity and fostering an inclusive culture.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and performance management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with national and local regulations and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Support technology initiatives to enhance client scalability, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.

People Leadership:

  • Provide leadership and direction to operational managers and senior staff.
  • Support the onboarding of new clients and ensure a seamless transition.
  • Conduct performance reviews and act as a mentor and coach to the team.
  • Liaise with Learning & Development to ensure targeted training programs for staff.

Governance & Risk:

  • Prepare reporting papers for the Corporate Markets Business Risk Committee.
  • Manage relationships with external parties such as auditors, regulators, and financial service providers.
  • Drive change to improve processes based on risk assessments and incident reports.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and minimize operational risks.
  • Sponsor operational projects and oversee budgeting and cash flow monitoring.

Experience & Personal Attributes:

  • 10+ years of experience in senior management roles in financial services.
  • Exceptional people management skills with experience leading large and diverse teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of share registry, transfer agency, capital markets, and contact centers.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies.
  • Detailed understanding of the Australian funds administration and custody landscape.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate teams with professional integrity and a proactive approach.
  • Strong project management skills with experience implementing new systems.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications including bachelor or post-graduate degree.
