Trisco Foods (www.triscofoods.com) is an Australian family-owned business managed by the Tristram family who have been manufacturing food and beverage products for over five generations in Queensland, dating back to 1875. The company has an enviable reputation for quality products and state of the art manufacturing. The business is growing rapidly and is looking for a dedicated and highly skilled COO to join their executive team.
Based in Brisbane and reporting to the CEO you will lead a diverse team of managers in production, administration, supply chain, HR, Systems, Engineering and quality. Your span of operations will include all production from the Brisbane plant. Critical to your success in the role will be your proven leadership skills, knowledge and experience in manufacturing and ability to drive change and foster growth. This is both a strategic and tactical role requiring an ability to shift gears and both see the future strategy and dig deep into issues and drive tactical plans to hit targets.
Key duties will include:
* Collaborate with the CEO in setting and driving organisational vision, operational strategy and hiring levels.
* Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing organisation-wide goal setting, performance management and annual operations planning.
* Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and organisational outcomes are met.
* Measuring the efficiency of company operational processes and taking steps to improve.
* Regularly reviewing operations to ensure that this meets required standards and recommend/implement changes where necessary.
* Ensure that production capability is maintained at the levels required for budget purposes.
* Ensure that supply chain and production operations are done efficiently and that purchasing costs are monitored for best value.
* Ensure that workplace health & safety standards are being maintained.
* Ensure that quality management systems including HACCP are maintained at all times.
* Adhere to company, federal, state, and local business requirement, enforcing compliance and taking action when necessary.
* Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management and retention.
* Undertake annual performance reviews of direct reports and ensure performance reviews of their reports are completed.
* Provide leadership to senior management and staff
* Implement any decisions or directions from the CEO and meet any deadlines provided.
* Attend if requested board meetings and provide appropriate Board papers and reports.
* Contribute ideas, leadership, vision, and energy to the continuing growth of the company.
Ideally you will have the following work experience, skills, and personal qualities:
* A bachelor or master s degree qualification in business, management or similar field will be highly regarded
* Relevant experience gained in the FMCG/Food manufacturing industry is preferred. But manufacturing experience gained in other industries will also be considered.
* Exposure to lean manufacturing.
* Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues.
* Demonstrated commercial and financial acumen, and business skills in the management of budgets, business plans and analysing risk.
* Proven people leadership skills.
* Proven stakeholder management skills e.g., board, other external stakeholders.
* Outstanding verbal and written skills and experience working with staff on all levels.
* Proven complex problem-solving skills.
* Solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics.
* Ability to diagnose problems quickly and foresee potential issues.
