Where you'll be working:


The Building Strong Foundations (BSF) Child and Family Health Nurse position is based at Taree Community Health Centre and provides culturally sensitive and integrated community-based Child and Family Health nursing services to Aboriginal children 0-5 years and their families in the Greater Taree area and surrounds of the Lower Mid North Coast.

About the role:

  • As a member of a multidisciplinary child health team the BSF Child and Family Health Nurse works in close partnership with the BSF Aboriginal Health Worker and the Aboriginal Community to provide culturally safe, compassionate, person centred care that is evidence based, to promote infant and child physical, emotional and social health.
  • You will be job sharing with another 0.5FTE CNS2 with the Building Strong Foundations team and work closely with our Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Service (AMIHS).
  • Clients are seen in their homes, alternative community settings or at the Community Health Centre.

  • You will be responsible for a busy case load of clients, who often experience psychosocial complexities.
  • The role requires you to provide assertive follow up to young Aboriginal clients aged 0-5years and their families/carers.
  • Candidates are required to have an understanding of Closing The Gap and to have cultural competence.


Requirements:

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Post registration qualifications relevant to the area of Child & Family Health.
  • At least 3 years post registration experience within the clinical area of specialty.

  • The successful applicant will receive orientation and training while in the role, this includes mandatory education and training specifically for the BSF role.
  • We encourage and support both internal and external support, with regular monthly clinical supervision and Local Health District linkage to other BSF teams.

Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme:

This vacancy is eligible for an Attraction and Relocation package that includes the following*:  

  • Attraction incentive paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance of up to $10,000 for the first 12-months 

  • Retention incentive of up to $5,000 thereafter annually 

  • PLUS 3 months accommodation assistance (e.g. rent payments, mortgage re-payments, payments for commercial accommodation) 


*All payments and reimbursements made to part time employees will be on a pro-rata basis.  

Attraction incentives will be paid as a Rural and Regional fortnightly allowance on top of your base salary.
 

Other forms of payment/package options (where you are eligible) need to be negotiated with the Convenor and may include**: ??  

  • Additional annual professional development days (up to 5 more per year) 

  • Additional personal leave (up to 5 more per year) 

  • Computer/internet reimbursement (e.g. laptop, wi-fi costs) 

  • Return airfare to and from your work base (or equivalent motor vehicle allowance) so you can still visit family and friends 


**The total value of your incentive package would remain the same. Employees are responsible for seeking independent financial advice before accepting an Attraction and Retention Incentive package as part of their offer. ?

  • An eligibility list will be created for future permanent part time and temporary part time vacancies.
