About the Opportunity
Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Child Safety Project Officerto join their team for an opportunity in the Katherine West region in the NT. This position is well suited to someone with previous experience in youth work, social work, community development or community engagement, including experience in delivering group education and facilitating feedback sessions.
The Child Safety Project Officerwill actively engage with Aboriginal young people and their families in Lajamanu and Kalkaringi for the life cycle of the 12-month project. They will conduct a series of age-appropriate and culturally safe consultation groups, creating a safe place for children, young people and parents to provide comprehensive input into health service delivery with the goal of improving engagement and overall healthcare and family services experience in the Lajamanu and Kalkaringi Community Health Centres.
Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Lead planning and delivery of consultation projects with Aboriginal children and young people in Kalkaringi and Lajamanu to inform the continuous quality improvement of KWHB health services and programs.
- Use evidence-based evaluation and feedback tools to inform data for community engagement reports.
- Coordinate and facilitate focus groups with parents and carers, to gain feedback on the challenges and barriers they encounter in accessing healthcare services for their children.
- Attend Child Safety Working Group meetings and regularly report on project milestones.
- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes for children and young people, including educating KWHB staff around Child Safety and ways to embed Child Safety in service delivery.
