About the Role 

AMS has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer to join our Perth based Engineering team. You will be working primarily from our main office, located close to the action of Perth Airport, and travel to regional and remote areas of Australia as required, primarily within WA. You will play a vital role supporting our broad client base to achieve and maintain industry best practice at their aerodromes. You will lead and assist the development, implementation and monitoring of Engineering Projects and undertake a variety of standalone projects.

Regular Responsibilities

• To manage and oversee the technical and engineering aspects of airfield engineering projects 
• Reviewing and providing feedback on engineering drawings for all stages of the assigned projects to ensure compliance with all regulations and meeting project scope;
• Production of technical reports for submission to clients, including providing critical review and feedback on colleagues’ deliverables for other projects;
• Developing and/or maintaining project documentation including QA/QC standards;
• Provide advice to clients on regulatory compliance of their aerodrome infrastructure assets;
• Carry out site inspections for maintenance and construction, and extended site visits to regional and rural areas for supervision and superintendence of works;
• Managing/carrying out site investigations including geotechnical, survey and others as required, followed with interpreting and reporting on findings; 
• Facilitating key stakeholder input to projects; and
• Provide pavement and seal design and advice.

Essential Criteria

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of 7 years post-graduate experience, including design, construction and project management activities;
• Airfield experience will be highly regarded;
• Professional Member of Engineers Australia preferably chartered or willing to progress to chartered status, with a commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD);
• Experience in pavements and knowledge of design, construction, maintenance and asset management practices;
• Experience in contract administration practices including negotiating terms and conditions, programming, claims and fulfilling projects in accordance with contractual arrangements, as both a contractor and a client or client’s representative;
• Understanding of materials used in pavement construction, and associated Australian/Main Roads Standards for materials testing and construction, and their application in an aerodrome setting;
• Ability to read, understand, critically review and provide feedback on design drawings;
• Excellent communication skills including technical report writing;
• Ability to create and maintain relationships with clients and contractors;
• Able to manage and schedule workload to account for changing priorities;
• Ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC);
• Valid Australian Manual Driver’s License.
