Civil Engineer - About the Opportunity
Reporting to our Project Managers the Civil Engineer will oversee technical aspects of pumping, treatment and storage system design, manufacturing, supply and install projects for the Water Infrastructure Industry. The Civil Engineer will work closely with other Engineers, Designers, Project Managers and Draftsperson to provide technical assistance and engineering support to the project delivery team.

Typical duties will include
- Review and Interpret Technical Documents such as specifications, scope documentation, datasheets, manuals, process diagrams, engineering drawings in order to plan piping/hydraulic design and structural design with other engineers and draftspeople in consultation with the Engineering Manager and the project delivery team
- Anticipate possible challenges and gaps in scope and identify variation opportunity.
- Cost management including estimating and submitting Variations to Contract based on Scope changes
- Drafting of quality documentation and Construction/Manufacturing Procedures
- Management of Project Documentation by delivering and maintaining, manuals, MDRs, testing documentation (ITPs, ITRs, FATs), technical queries, action list registers and work packs for production
- Checking and approving drawings & documentation for Client submission
- Performing and Submitting design calculations, including:
- Fluid Velocity, Friction loss, Pipeline sizing and other Hydraulic Pump system Calculations
- Finite Element Analysis of structures to AS/NZS 1554
- Wind loading calculations to AS/NZS 1170
- Material take off, selection of materials and components
- Plan and organise work to meet deadlines within budget, develop project programs, allocate appropriate labour/resource to projects and ensure “People, Materials and Information are in the right place at the right time”.

Education/Certificates
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Experience and Knowledge
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the same or similar role
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to successfully communicate and liaise with people at all levels, both internal and external to Allied Pumps
- Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to use Initiative and prioritise effectively
- Civil Engineering/Management
- Project documentation experience (Operator’s Manual, Manufacturer’s Data Report, Drawings and Documentation List, Technical Queries, Inspection and Test Plans, test procedures, Factory Acceptance procedures and work packs)
- Ability to understand technical documentation such as datasheets, manuals, pump curves, process diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, electrical single line diagrams and electrical schematics diagrams.
- Civil, Structural or Hydraulic Services design and drafting
Desirable Experience and Knowledge
- Pump Control System for Commercial, Industrial or Mining Industry
- Water Treatment Systems and Fire Emergency Services
- Mine Dewatering Systems
- Document Control
