Planned Resources are seeking a contracted Civil Works Coordinator to join an inner western council for a minimum of two months.
The position responsibilities are to facilitate the safe, efficient, and timely completion of maintenance tasks related to Civil Works programs by overseeing both in-house and contracted resources. Provide technical and operational assistance to the Manager of Operations and Maintenance in implementing the Council’s Road Management Plan. Offer effective leadership, guidance, and support to the Works team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the coordination of Civil Works maintenance activities, ensuring the in-house Road Maintenance Teams operate effectively and prioritise safety.
- Manage Contractors engaged in Civil maintenance works, including overseeing project delivery to ensure completion within budget and schedule.
- Supervise proactive and reactive maintenance of the Council’s storm water drainage network.
- Conduct regular inspections in accordance with the Council’s Road Management Plan to maintain compliance.
- Establish robust systems and registers to uphold governance standards in record-keeping and administration of Civil Works activities.
- Contribute to the development of new programs, including initiatives for quality assurance and continuous improvement.
To be successful for this role, you will display the below:
- Substantial experience in managing Civil Works.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering and/or related field, together with significant relevant experience is highly desirable, or lesser formal qualifications with extensive relevant experience.
- Extensive experience in the management and leadership of in house and contracted resources.
- Knowledge and understanding of engineering construction, maintenance principles and techniques.
- Knowledge and proven capacity to implement a compliant based approach to Civil Works and maintenance.
- Extensive experience in maintenance activities, contract management and sound understanding of the Road Management Act 2004 and associated regulations.
- Sound understanding of Local Government Act 1989 in relation to procurement.
