About the role

Are you a skilled leader with a passion for infrastructure Maintenance Operations and community service? Yarra Ranges Council is seeking a Maintenance Operations Coordinator to join our team.

In this pivotal role, you will coordinate infrastructure Maintenance Operations, lead internal staff responsible for civil infrastructure maintenance, renewals & repairs, contract auditing, and response to customer requests. As a key leader of the Infrastructure Maintenance team, you will ensure effective communication, provision of safe work practices, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Your contributions will shape policy, processes, and strategy to ensure operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the daily operations of roads and civil maintenance internal staff/crew.
  • Identify and coordinate training opportunities for the team.
  • Coordinate the delivery of works and services annual supply contracts in road and drainage activities.
  • Contract manage works and services annual supply contracts, including auditing and relevant record keeping.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to support maintenance activities carried out by internal staff, ensuring cohesive customer service.
  • Liaise with Infrastructure Services team members and cross-organisational teams to resolve customer issues effectively.
  • Finance and budgeting oversight and reporting.

What you'll bring to our team

  • Experience in leading a technical team.
  • Strong customer service culture and innovation.
  • Degree or Diploma qualification in Engineering or Civil Works or several years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working in a complex environment requiring good organisational skills and ability to make timely, effective decisions.
  • Understanding of Council's responsibilities in relation to the Environmental Code of Practice, the Road Management Act, Local Government Act and Council's Road Management Plan
  • Understanding of safe and efficient civil infrastructure techniques and significant experience, and/or extensive and diverse experience in construction and maintenance services of the built environment
  • Understanding of pavement, drainage, and civil works design.

  • Option to take up a monthly RDO
  • Full-time permanent position (38 hours per week).
  • Salary from $104,442 (Band 7) per annum, plus 11% superannuation.
