Job description

City of Newcastle (CN) is currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Civil Safety Officer to join our Civil Construction and Maintenance team in this newly created role.

Our Civil Safety Officer is responsible for driving operational safety requirements and standards in the Civil Construction and Maintenance (CC&M) service unit to ensure compliance with all relevant WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice. You will work collaboratively with the CC&M Leadership Team in the development, implementation and monitoring of effective WHS systems and support our leaders with WHS incidents and investigations.

Bringing previous experience, you will oversee and conduct safety audits and ensure effective training and compliance of CN policies and practices including specific WHS obligations for CC&M. You'll also deliver WHS Inductions to new and existing employees and identify risks and hazards resulting from daily site inspections and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.

Remuneration: $89,294.63 + 11% Superannuation per annum for a 35-hour week.
