Through a robust stakeholder feedback loop and supported by consistent processes and leadership, we take pride in delivering responsive, fair and professional service with empathy and efficiency.How you will create an impactThe role manages the Australia & New Zealand Claims Recovery team that comprises 2 Recovery Technicians, located in Melbourne Australia. The role reports into the Regional (APAC) Fraud & Recovery Manager. As a Recovery Leader, you will be the dedicated point of contact for Australia & New Zealand’s claims recoveries, a portfolio with high volume, breadth and variety of complex Commercial recovery claims.Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the Recovery Team
- Timely, accurate and customer focused claim resolution, maximizing subrogation opportunity and return and mitigating vendor and legal expense.
- Performs all functions of recovery on assigned files of Major Loss/Complex claims including initial file review for subrogation opportunity, demands, arbitration, referrals to counsel, negotiation/ settlements, and delivers effective vendor and litigation management where required.
- Maintains current knowledge of jurisdictions and changes in applicable laws that may affect recovery efforts and/or impact recovery results.
- Engages business stakeholders and provides effective communications on recovery key performance metrics and ad-hoc case updates as/when required for key accounts, customers, brokers.
- Delivers technical training to colleagues within recovery, claims and external contacts as appropriate with a focus on recovery detection/ recognition and handling.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing a Recovery Team
- Well-developed expertise and technical knowledge on higher value complex claims – particularly Property, Casualty, Financial Lines
- Thorough knowledge of Australia and New Zealand legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural requirements. Broader knowledge extending into Asia is a plus.
- Experience in negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and ADR skills on higher value complex claims
- Experience in effectively following up on recommendations from technical claims audits and continuous file handling improvement
- Ability to contribute and collaborate effectively within a team environment and with internal/external stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Continuous improvement mindset and change adaptability. Motivated to pursue positive change and work with employees in facilitating recommended changes.
- Ability to multi-task and organised at weighing and managing priorities

- Legal or Bachelor’s Degree/ equivalent required
