Address Train staff in the Phlebotomy and Specimen Reception work areas and assist in their further education and career development in conjunction with the Supervising Scientist.
Supervise, co-ordinate and participate in the day-to-day operations of the Phlebotomy and Specimen Reception team, to ensure that a coordinated, effective and efficient workflow is achieved while also promoting a strong team ethic.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
Extensive experience in phlebotomy including the application of established policies and guidelines with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated knowledge of procedures and processes used in specimen reception together with a sound knowledge of laboratory operations in all disciplines.
Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, co-ordinate and train staff to provide an efficient and effective service.
Possess a high level of communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work in a team, establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, laboratory, medical and nursing staff at all levels.
Demonstrated self-motivation and the ability to work un-supervised.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies as they are introduced and or pioneer innovated solutions focused on improving the patient experience.
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
Whilst not mandatory, a certificate III or IV in Pathology Collection and/or Pathology would be well regarded.
The ability to work shifts between the hours of 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
