This is an exciting opportunity to join the Prince of Wales Hospital (POWH) Nutrition and Dietetics Department in the role of Clinical Dietitian SeniorLevel 3 Oncology. The POWH provides comprehensive cancer care services and is a specialist centre for the treatment of complex head and neck cancer and upper gastrointestinal cancers. This position is chiefly responsible for our radiotherapy outpatient services, and also works flexibly across the hospital’s oncology services together with two other Dietitians (Level 4 and a rotational Level 1/2). The team comprises nineteen dedicated dietitians ranging from new graduate to experienced clinical specialists. As a team we are committed to ensure that the nutrition care of patients and clients are at the forefront of service delivery. The POWH is a quaternary referral and teaching hospital - a great place to develop your career. It is located in Randwick, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The hospital is undergoing redevelopment and has just opened a new acute services building. The hospital is accessible via a light rail service which stops right outside the main entrance, along with a range of bus services.
What you'll be doing

Your focus will be on providing quality person centred care to patients undergoing radiotherapy. Also, as a senior dietitian in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics you will be actively involved in quality improvement, service development activities and the clinical supervision of junior staff and students.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

  • Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award
  • Extensive post graduate clinical experience in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
  • Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature
  • Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning
