Reporting to the Care Operations Manager, the primary purpose of the Clinical Lead position is to oversee the care and clinical services of residents living in their own home within the Anglicare Village Community. The role works concurrently with the Care Operations Manager and the Village General Manager.
The successful incumbent must have demonstrated high level application of evidence-based practice and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualised person-centred care with a commitment to quality improvement. Demonstrated ability to supervise, delegate, and negotiate with others to deliver quality nursing care with a willingness to show leadership and embrace change in the coordination and delivery of care and recent clinical experience relevant to the position including evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills.
Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Lead the clinical care team in the delivery of direct and comprehensive nursing care to village resident and ensure that all aspects of care are delivered to the highest standard.
- Lead, mentor, and train RNs, ENs, supporting clinical education, competency assessments and seminars in areas of clinical specialty as required. Attend meetings as required in role of Clinical Lead.
- Provide Clinical Leadership for RN's, EN's and Care Workers on shift as required including incident management, reporting and any escalations (including after-hours support).
- Manage incidents and feedback within the care environment according to policy and in a timely manner.
- Promote and contribute to clinical governance and quality management across Anglicare policies, procedures, and systems.
- Support the education to village residents oriented towards the promotion of independence, reablement and health improvements.
- Mentor and provide education including induction to new staff joining the clinical care team.
- Must hold current Registration with APRHA as a Registered Nurse with more than 5 years nursing experience.
- Demonstrated high level competence in the provision of contemporary nursing care including medication management, clinical assessment, and relevant documentation.
- Demonstrated specialty skills in complex wound management, chronic disease management, medication administration, continence and/or palliative care (highly desirable).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of nurses and care workers.
- High level of confidence in using technology relevant to the delivery of nursing/care services.
- Demonstrated competence in the financial link between service delivery and funding framework (such as HCPs, CHSPs).
- Understanding of all relevant legislative, regulatory requirements, professional standards, and guidelines relevant to the Aged Care environment with a particular emphasis on funding, Quality Systems, Accreditation and Continuous Quality Improvement.
- Proven ability to operate effectively and efficiently in a highly regulated and complex environment.
