Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/12/2024.
Position Profile: This position provides continuity of midwifery carer within a caseload midwifery led model throughout the continuum of pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period. The midwife works within a group practice and provides support and backup for the woman either at home or in the hospital. The emphasis is on the provision of safe, effective care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Within the midwifery group practice the woman and her family is central to the care and provided in a culturally appropriate manner.
Area Profile: The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Midwest health region of Western Australia covers more than 470,000 square kilometres, nearly one fifth of the State, with its population concentrated along the coast. The region is located in the northern middle section of Western Australia and incorporates three health districts - Gascoyne, Geraldton, Midwest and Murchison, is recognised for its unique natural environment and is a culturally diverse region with Aboriginal people representing 13% of the overall population.
