The Role
A part time job share role available (24hrs per week) with the opportunity to incorporate as part of a full time or part time position working the remaining hours as a Clinical Midwifery Specialist.
The Clinical Midwifery Educator should be proficient in working in Birth Unit and postnatal areas.
The Clinical Midwifery Educator provides clinical support and education to the Registered Midwife, Registered Nurse, Mothercraft Nurse, Enrolled Nurse, New Graduate Midwives and Bachelor of Midwifery students in birth unit and postnatal areas
The CME will provide a women and family focussed culture that supports the MUM and staff to deliver innovative models of care and proactively manages change in the Birth Unit and postnatal areas of care. The CME will consult and liaise with obstetric and maternity staff in regards to education opportunities and requirements.

The Department
Women’s Health Unit is a 43 bed post/antenatal/gynaecology ward with 7 birthing suite rooms. Supporting this service is a 7 bed level 2 Special Care Nursery. An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Midwife to join our team on a full-time/part time basis. We are looking for an expert midwife, who is committed to excellence, has extensive skills in the birth unit as well as a passion for delivery of woman centred care.
Specific accountabilities will include:
- Developing and providing contemporary education that promotes evidence based, best practice standards.
- Creating learning opportunities for staff through empowering education.
- Adhere by core midwifery competencies when supporting staff and students in intrapartum and postnatal care
- Provide exceptional skills including CTG interpretation, neonatal resuscitation and management of obstetric emergencies
- Helping to ensure that through a highly skilled and educated workforce our patients receive safe and high quality care
- Demonstrate effective communication
- Work collaboratively with the leadership team
- Ability to work autonomously
- Support and monitor staff training
- Facilitate quality improvement to deliver high quality care
Essential Criteria:
- Current AHPRA registration – Registered Midwife (minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience within an acute maternity environment including intrapartum and postnatal care).
- Certificate IV Workplace Assessment and Training (TAE qualification)
- Demonstrated experience in e-Learning platforms
- High degree of computer literacy skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable Criteria:
- Tertiary qualification (Masters in Education or other relevant post graduate qualification)
- Previous educator experience in a similar role

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF - NSW Nurses and Midwives' - Enterprise Agreement 2020- 2024, a salary ranging from $52.45 - $54.18 per hour.
