Overview

The Clinical nurse, Cardiac and Respiratory is responsible for:
The provision of a high level of support and work in the development and implementation of effective and efficient respiratory and cardiac services aiming to:
- reduce emergency department presentations and hospital admissions for clients with respiratory and cardiac conditions
- reduce length of stay for patients with respiratory and cardiac illness admitted to BHFLHN hospitals
- timely transfer of respiratory and cardiac patients from Metropolitan health services to their community or residence
- Facilitate effective use of health services by vulnerable groups
- Supporting the education, self management and rehabilitation of participants to best manage their health condition
The Clinical Nurse is actively involved in the planning, facilitation and evaluation of service specific Health Promotion activities for these clients and affiliated community groups.
The Clinical Nurse accepts accountability for their own practice standards, activities delegated to others and the guidance and development of less experienced staff.
The Clinical Nurse role at this level continues to be predominantly clinical in nature; however employees are assigned appropriate portfolios. The allocation of portfolio responsibilities should be negotiated with each employee and be consistent with the career development plan for the employee as determined by their performance review/development plan.
