Overview
You will provide clinical nursing expertise to ensure quality and safety in clinical care for patients with diabetes in a variety of clinical settings. Primarily providing nursing care, you will also provide clinical leadership to nurses and contribute to projects and programs that improve patient outcomes. Integrating evidence-based practice into your own practice standards, you will be classified as an expert within your area of diabetes nursing practice, and have a significant degree of autonomy and decision making. Striving to improve outcomes of nursing practices for diabetes patients, you will keep professionally up to date with relevant research, technological advances and models of care and work to address inconsistencies between practice and policy. You will be eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. Demonstrating clinical excellence in diabetes education and care, you will bring proven experience and competence in the provision of diabetes clinical services and education practice in accordance with the relevant standards of practice. This will include experience in the development of diabetes clinical protocols and adjunct support resources, education material and teaching resources. Working effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment, you will demonstrate flexibility, innovation and creativity within the whole of service setting.
