The Kirketon Road Centre (KRC) is a targeted primary health care service located in Kings Cross, Sydney involved in the prevention, treatment and care of HIV/AIDS and other transmissible infections among people who inject drugs, sex workers, people experiencing homelessness, 'at risk' young people and Aboriginal people.
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) will provide coordination, delivery and evaluation of Clinical Nurse education (including programs) at the unit level with a particular focus on sexual health, hepatitis C and primary health care. Such education will include orientation and/or transitioning for new nursing staff, undergraduate and casual nurses as well as meeting the ongoing educational needs of existing nursing staff.
The CNE will provide clinical supervision at the point of care within everyday clinical practice, in line with the ANMC Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives. The CNE will also work clinically on the floor to maintain their clinical skills and to have a firsthand experience of delivering services in the KRC clinic context.
Kirketon Road Centre is one of the PaCH Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus services, therefore this position will also work with those services to support nurse education and upskilling across the directorate.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualification or 3 years clinical experience in sexual health. Clinical experience in primary health care or drug and alcohol would be desirable.
- Able to demonstrate effective interpersonal, communication, organisation and time management skills including computer literacy and understanding of hospital information systems.
- Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles).
- Demonstrated clinical teaching and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of competency attainment and assessment.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues and needs of priority populations attending the Kirketon Road Centre and providing trauma informed care.
- Hold a current NSW Driver’s Licence.
