Job description

The Role

  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to develop, plan, implement and evaluate education programs that reflect the assessed needs of the workforce and are linked to patient and professional outcomes in the clinical practice setting.
  • Applies high level professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with nursing and multidisciplinary stakeholders to enact education and development strategies for Mental Health Services, Tasmania Police and Ambulance Tasmania staff.
  • Coordinate the delivery of professional development forums and mandatory skills training for operational staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities that contribute to the professional development of operational staff and the achievement of service outcomes.

The Team:

Responsible for the provision of education and training specific to the effective management of serious mental illness in the community to all staff and linked stakeholders of the Mental Health Emergency Response North West Service. This includes Mental Health Services, Ambulance Tasmania and Tasmania Police staff.  The above is to be achieved in accordance with Primary Health care principles, national standards, national Mental Health standards, relevant Agency directions, policies, legal requirements and professional competencies for nurses.

‘This position is an exciting new opportunity to use your clinical and educational skills and experience to support Mental Health, Ambulance Tasmania and Tasmania Police staff to provide Mental Health Emergency support in the community to the people of north west Tasmania. As an experienced clinician and educator,  the position provides the opportunity to be part of  an innovative  Mental Health Emergency Response service aimed at  improving access to timely, appropriate, evidence based, least restrictive Mental Health care.

Details of Appointment

Fixed Term, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible until 6 July 2025.

Classification: 

Salary: $111,506 - $118,336 per annum + 11% superannuation

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $750 per annum

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Holds, or is currently working towards, postgraduate qualifications in education and/or clinical teaching and learning
  • Holds, or is currently working towards, postgraduate qualifications around clinical/practice speciality as relevant to the position

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
