EXPERIENCED PAEDIATRIC PERIOPERATIVE NURSES AND TRANSITION TO PAEDIATRIC PERIOPERATIVE NURSING

This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time appointments with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.

We are currently looking to appoint experienced and dedicated individuals to the role of Clinical Nurse within the Theatre and Perioperative team.

As an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Nurse provides clinical and professional expertise within Theatres to ensure comprehensive evidence-based nursing care is delivered to patients. The Clinical Nurse facilitates and promotes patient safety and quality of care. They support the provision of service within their speciality area, ensuring compliance against standards of practice.

Previous experience in General Surgery and/or an ENT environment is highly regarded. Paediatric experience is not essential although desirable, we value your skills, knowledge, and recent experience in Perioperative settings.

Requirements:

  • Current registration with AHPRA with minimum of five (5) years of recent Perioperative experience.
  • A willingness to learn and embrace the unique challenges and rewards of paediatric nursing.

About the Department/Service /Directorate: The Operating Theatres Complex at Perth Children's Hospital provides a safe and technologically advanced environment for surgery. Here's what you can expect:

  • Multiple Theatres: Our 12 operating theatres are equipped for both elective (planned) and emergency surgeries, as well as specialised procedures.
  • Seamless Care: The Operating Theatre Complex and PACU are directly connected to other critical care units, Paediatric Critical Care (PCC), and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), as well as the Surgical Admissions ward and Surgical Short Stay Unit.

  1. Can you provide an example from your experience in Perioperative care nursing where you orchestrated the management of a complex clinical situation, highlighting not only your advanced clinical expertise but also your leadership skills in effectively working within a multidisciplinary team? (Essential criteria 2,5 and 6)
  2. How have you applied your understanding of the Continuous Quality Improvement process in your previous nursing roles? Can you provide an example of a specific quality improvement initiative you were involved in, including the steps you took to identify areas for improvement? (Essential Criteria 7)

Please also provide a current resumewhich summarises your experience and contains phone and email contact details of two professional referees, with at least one being a recent supervisor/line manager.

This is an “open-ended” recruitment pool, and as such the following should be noted:

  • The panel will monitor this recruitment pool for applications and will assess on a regular basis.
