The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) (Drug & Alcohol) role at the Immigration Detention Facilities is an integral part of IHMS' Drug and Alcohol team. Key responsibilities:
- Clinical leadership and ongoing improvement and review of triage, treatment planning for patients on opiod substitution treatment program (OSTP)
- Provide clinical resource and advanced support and liaison at a local level on matters relating to D&A
- Facilitation and liaison with local and external stakeholders/service providers to ensure continuity of care
- Specialist assessment and management of withdrawal states, pharmacotherapies, intoxication and overdose states
- Provide assistance to local and centralised leadership teams to ensure smooth operation of D&A related care and services
- Working with people from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds

Profile description:
- Current AHPRA Registration as a Div. 1 Registered Nurse
- Minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience working with people with Drug and Alcohol use disorders in a D&A setting, including experience in opiod substitution treatment
- Advanced clinical assessment skills and management of alcohol and drug issues
- Good knowledge of harm minimisation principles
- Current BLS or First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain it)
