Job description

Tenacious House provides innovative, voluntary residential rehabilitation services for men, over the age of 18, who are experiencing co-occurring addiction and Mental Health issues. Our mission is to provide opportunities for these men to move from isolation, despair and instability to a life characterised by connection, hope and resilience. Our Integrated Recovery and Connection Program delivers a holistic, evidence-based, and trauma-informed program that offers a connection-focused recovery approach. The extended duration and care continuum of the model supports truly individualised, person-centered treatment and care based on the strengths of each participant.

The Role 

Job Title: Clinical Services Manager- AOD & Mental Health  - Full-time 

The Clinical Services Manager - AOD and Mental Health is an integral member of the leadership team reporting to the CEO, providing clinical management and leadership to the Tenacious House Mental Health, AOD, and counselling services team. The Clinical Services Manager - AOD and Mental Health position encompasses a diverse range of functions requiring a high level of sector knowledge, experience, and skills. Working closely with the Residential Services Manager, the role will involve integrating with established work practices, using initiative, and exercising sound judgment.  The Clinical Services Manager- AOD and Mental Health will also be required to oversee and run group therapy and/or courses.

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage the development of Tenacious House’s Mental Health and counselling services to ensure alignment with evidence-based and best practice requirements, and the Tenacious House organisational culture.
  • Develop Quality and Risk Management for Clinical Governance and develops quality improvement and training plans to ensure the above competencies are met.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in Mental Health and counselling to the organisation’s service review, design, and strategic planning.
  • Lead a culture of accountability with a strong focus on learning and training matrix development and oversight.
  • Lead a robust clinical supervision programme that supports the professional development of staff, responds to clinical and occupational risks, and supports the development of student placements.
  • Represent the organisation on sector committees and peak bodies and at external networking events.
  • Seek opportunities to work on collective impact projects with other for-purpose organisations.
  • Line manage the clinical service area co-ordinators.
  • Assists in preparing funding applications.
  • Communicates and acts in ways that are consistent with the organisation’s purpose and values.
  • Represents and promotes the work of the organisation, maintaining a positive image of the organisation in accordance with the level of the position. 
  • Constantly reviews clinical operations to identify opportunities for integration of programmes that facilitate client participation across varied areas, staff movement between programmes, and continuous improvement.
  • Reviews industry trends and implements best practice.
  • Uses evidence-based approach to clinical, counselling and therapies
  • Understands and uses a risk management approach to delivering care. 
  • Manages assurance activities with internal reporting and audits.
  • Conducts root cause analysis of serious, reportable, or high-risk incidents within Mental Health and counselling programme areas. Provides recommendations to mitigate the risk of recurrence and manage any ongoing liability.
  • Manages Programme Quality Improvement Plans.

 

Qualifications

Essential

  • AHPRA registered Mental Health professional or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in the management and leadership of Mental Health services and a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in business management, strategic planning, and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement and evaluate Mental Health and counselling services and programs.
  • Proven human resource management skills.
  • Financial management skills and experience in budget preparation and management.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation in Mental Health, EEO, Disability Services and Occupational Safety & Health. 
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
  • Department of Health or National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check
  • Current ‘C’ class driver’s license
