Our cloud-solutions are focused on our SaaS products and; taking traditional deployments of our on-prem metering software and shifting that into virtualized managed-systems all delivered through our dedicated ANZ private-cloud platform as well as public-cloud offerings (Azure).
What's the role?
As a member of the EDMI energy cloud operations team, the Cloud Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the energy cloud and physical environments are operationally supported and validated as the solution offering expands.
The Cloud Engineer key responsibilities:
• Pre and Post sales product support for the energy cloud
• Responding to and managing customer queries, service requests, incidents, and problems
• Validating new services as the energy cloud expands
This role works closely with other energy cloud team members such as developers, technical consultants as well as the EDMI customer support team. All Cloud Engineers bring a DevOps mindset, applying agile and lean principles in design and system building. Cloud engineers have a focus on automation, orchestration, and improving capability within the EEC ‘stack’ leveraging their wide knowledge of information technology and systems integration to keep a working system.
About the role – what will you be doing:
• Ensure availability, uptime, security, and integrity of EDMI cloud services.
• Monitoring of all systems, including setting alerts to maintain the stability of the environment and monitoring error logs.
• Produce documentation of all new and existing systems that have been built or modified.
• Evaluate and identify ways to automate, streamline, and improve day-to-day maintenance and administrative practices.
• Participate in our ongoing improvement projects.
• Liaise with the business and other technical teams in the coordination of upgrades, hardware replacements and other performance and capacity initiatives.
• Participation in the on-call roster for out-of-hours system faults.
• Availability to be part of an on-call roster for 2 weeks in a 10-week cycle, in a team of 5
About you – what you will bring:
Essential:
• 2-3 years or more of enterprise experience working with Azure.
• Holding a relevant a qualification in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Science Engineering or equivalent industry qualifications.
• Experience in Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Experience supporting multiple customers across multiple platforms.
• Experience using tooling and programming languages such as Bash, Git, Jira, CloudFormation, Jenkins, Ansible.
• Experience working in an agile and ITIL environment.
• Demonstrated experience with regard to ownership with client projects and working from inception to delivery.
• Communicates effectively with people across a variety of backgrounds and develops constructive working relationships.
Desirable:
• Experience working in a software development environment.
• Previous experience in a DevOps role.
• Experience with Python and/or Ruby.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager Template.
• Azure Certifications: AZ-900, AZ-204, AZ-104.
