Job Description
You will be part of a close-knit, multidisciplinary team providing high grade support and innovations to Defence's large-scale enterprise cloud environment spanning multiple locations across Australia.
Your role will leverage your expert knowledge in the monitoring, performance tuning and continuous improvement of the customer's key IT Infrastructure and Services through best of breed technologies and practices. Your ability to problem solve and troubleshoot will be crucial in the prevention and treatment of major service interruptions and incidents, including technical advice, stakeholder engagement / communications, and coordination of / collaboration with technical SMEs towards resolution of issues and problems.
You will be responsible for enabling and empowering operational administration, providing technical guidance and service improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, performance and reliability for our Customer, in a rare and exciting opportunity to influence Defence's ICT capability of the future.
Perform the following functions as individual assignments or as part of a team:
- End-to-end delivery of high quality, reliable, efficient, and effective IT Services supporting our clients core business operations
- Provide solutions, direct technical support, expertise and guidance for major incidents and problem resolution, including co-ordination of varied technical SMEs, vendors and appropriate communication and reporting for issue resolution
- Develop relationships with internal IT groups and relevant business stakeholders to contribute innovations to continuous service improvement plans that drives the uplift of the reliability, performance and efficiency of the underlying platform that delivers the IT Services
- Monitor and report on the health and performance of IT services delivered through agreed SLA's, metrics and KPIs
- Manage vendor and customer relationships and review of overall performance metrics to ensure our contract service levels are met
- Influence and negotiate a broad group of stakeholders and manage various expectations and priorities
- In depth understanding of MS Windows Server, Active Directory, MS Exchange, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)

Combine your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a pro-active approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop relationships to achieve the company's objectives. Technically we are seeking:
- Experience working in large enterprise environments
- ITIL v3/4 qualified
- Significant understanding of the interfaces between IT Support and the Systems Engineering Lifecycle
- Experience in one or preferably more of the following streams:
- Microsoft / Wintel - Substantial experience administering, configuring, and managing large scale Microsoft Server infrastructure and associated technologies including Active Directory, DNS in a highly virtualised multi-user/multi-tenant environment
- VMWare - Proven experience administering, configuring and managing large scale compute infrastructure solutions. Deployment of VMWare solutions on Cisco UCS or Dell
- Network - Substantial experience in administering, configuring and managing large scale network infrastructure solutions including multi layer 2 domains and complex lifecycle environments through multi-tenant firewall implementation
- Storage - Proven experience administering, configuring and managing large scale storage solutions, implementation and maintenance of organizational objectives for backup and restoration of data utilizing Commvault
- End User Computing Technologies
- Deployment and packaging of applications through SCCM
- Experience in Government and Defence ICT environments is highly desirable
- Experience in mentoring and guiding other team members within an IT Support team is desirable
- Appropriate degree from an accredited university, or equivalent experience/combined education
- Qualifications from one or more of the following streams:
- Microsoft / Wintel
- Server, Active Directory, DNS, Messaging
- VMWare suite of technologies
- vCenter, Site Recovery Manager, vRealize, vROps
- Network
- Cisco - CCNA (Data Centre or Routing and Switching), VCP and MCSA certifications or equivalent

- Citrix Netscaler capabilities and suite of Load Balancing
- Arista Networking
- Storage
- Netapp Storage Solutions, ONTap, Storage Grid, Commvault
- End User Computing Technologies
- SCCM, AppSense
- Intermediate ITIL certification (e.g., Service Operations, Service Transition, Operational Support and Analysis) is ideal
This position will be based from Civic, Canberra or Scoresby, Melbourne and will require the successful candidate to have a NV2 security clearance.
